Lily Smith (Kobabe), co-founder of SmithSmith Aerial Arts
Lily began taking ballet before the age of 2. She simultaneously trained and performed as a dancer, circus artist and a competitive rhythmic gymnast for most of her youth, studying at The School of American Ballet, Alonzo King Lines Ballet, and San Francisco Circus Center. Her circus career began at age 9, becoming one of the founding members of Los Angeles based company Dream World Cirque, performing with them on too many occasions to count in her young career. Lily became a database member of Cirque Du Soleil in 2008, performing with the company at events in Los Angeles in 2009 and received a contract offer for Kooza in 2010. Lily’s lifelong professional performing career spans genres of ballet, contemporary ballet and dance, aerial arts, hi-wire walking and contortion. She’s been teaching and choreographing since the age of 16, studying and performing aerial arts for 18 years, and currently at 28 years old enjoys watching her students flourish and grow a loving and understanding relationship with their bodies through movement.

Kelly Smith, co-founder of SmithSmith Aerial Arts
Kelly Smith is Lily's husband, and both partner and student in her Aerial Training Program. Athletic, energetic, and multi-talented, Kelly loves to learn play and create. He built the aerial rig we train on and makes our unique apparatus come to life. Kelly is passionate about the ocean and wave riding, and he enjoys the seeking the flow of movement and strength in aerial arts. Kelly is an accomplished craftsman and welder and a true jack of all trades.
